Naiad available on GitHub

by on November 8, 2013

We are pleased to announce that Naiad is now available on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 open source license. Naiad builds and runs using the .NET CLR on Windows, and Mono on Windows, Linux, and OS X.

This release of Naiad has a substantially different structure from our first public release last year, which focused on differential dataflow. We extracted a re-useable timely dataflow runtime, Naiad, which allows us (and you!) to build libraries on a common framework, and allows programmers to mix and match libraries or even program against the raw timely dataflow metal itself. We have written a few of these libraries, including a ”LINQ  plus iteration” library, a graph processing library, and even differential dataflow as a library. We expect more to show up as we move along.

At the moment the release ships with some code examples, under the Examples project. We will also be doing a series of blog posts describing how Naiad’s timely dataflow runtime works, how we built various examples and libraries, and how you can use it yourself.
